Back in 1962 this movie [in Australia] was seen as "one of those steamy European movies" that are only shown at "Bohemian theatres" on a Sunday night.
Given all that, as a 17 year old university student with my first "official" girlfriend of 15 years, I was enticed to take her to see this movie, just over 50 years ago.
If you are still alive Michelle, you lovely creature, I hope your life travels were kind to you, but you were not MY Lolita. It could be said I was the boy in the movie about to "go steady" with Lolita, but, as in the movie, that was not to be.
At 19 I seduced another 15 year old [or rather she seduced me of course], already a professional teenage model, and this was the "love of my life" but still NOT my Lolita. I had a "use by date" with my lovely Margaret because I had been drafted into the lousy Vietnam War and such a lovely nymphet was not about to waste 2 years waiting for a "loser".
So my statements as to NOT Lolitas are purely obeying Humbert's rules as to age difference [min 10 years?] between the nymphet and the bloke. Certainly both gals presented themselves as perfect nymphets [by Humbert's rules] but I do not think either one "did a Lolita" via a Humbert.
